- The work carried out at Beckenham & Penge Repair Cafe is performed for free on a voluntary basis by the repairers.
- You are invited to be involved in the repair of your item as far as is safe and practically possible. You should remain with the repairer while the repair is being carried out.
- As work is performed by unpaid volunteers, their liability is limited: neither the organisers, hosts nor repairers are liable in a personal capacity or otherwise for:
- any loss that may result from advice or instructions given; the loss of items handed over for repair;
- for indirect or consequential loss;
- any loss or injury that may result from any repair carried out;
- or for any other kind of loss resulting from the work performed in the Repair Cafe.
This does not affect your normal statutory or consumer rights.
- You accept that if you bring items that are under warranty for repair in the Repair Cafe that the warranty for that item will be invalidated.
- The Repair Cafe does not offer any warranty for the repairs carried out and is not liable if items that are repaired subsequently turn out not to work properly You are responsible for providing or paying for consumables such as leads, plugs and spare parts to complete a repair, except for any consumables provided by the Repair Cafe at its discretion.
- Repairers are entitled to refuse to repair items at their own discretion. Repairers will not work on industrial equipment or three phase power tools.
- Repairers are not obliged to reassemble items that they judge cannot be repaired.
- You are solely responsible for the tidy removal and disposal of your items that cannot be repaired, and waste from the repair of your item.
- A maximum of ONE item per visitor will be examined. If time allows, you are welcome to rejoin the end of the queue with any further items.
- Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
- We appreciate voluntary donations towards supplies and running costs for Beckenham and Penge Repair Cafe CIC, the not-for-profit community organisation which oversees our events.
